“Who You Be” is my thesis that tackles the idea of Black Identity and what that means.

It’s an exploration of discovery and acceptance of the good, bad, and ugly about my culture. Within this broad concept, my collection will focus on the idea of consumerism and how African Americans believe that self-worth is connected to materialistic things.

It explores the idea of how there is a false sense of empowerment through the act of consuming luxury goods. This collection will tell the story about our origins of royalty, being stripped away of that and having to turn to materialistic things for a sense of self worth, and the idea of what the future holds if we decide to invest our money properly.
